Sleep related disorder
The National Sleep Foundation maintains that eight to nine hours of sleep for adult humans is optimal and that sufficient sleep benefits alertness, memory and problem solving, and overall health, as well as reducing the risk of accidents.

A widely publicized 2003 study performed at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine demonstrated that cognitive performance declines with fewer than eight hours of sleep.

Sleep deprivation can adversely affect brain function. A 2001 Study at Harvard's Medical Institute suggested that sleep deprivation may be linked to more serious diseases, such as heart disease. Studies also have shown that sleep deprivation also can damage the immune system.

What is sleep related disorder?

“Mind isolates itself from external objects and goes into its own self”.

But if mind is not able to isolate and senses are awake and unable to shut down then the sleep becomes disturbed. This condition so happens in many of the associated illnesses or disorders. When the physical stress is high or the mental engagement is non-stopping then it results into a disorder and often accompanies with a sleep disturbance. This causes lack of sleep and further complicates the disorder.

A number of vital tasks carried out during sleep which helps to maintain good health and enable people to function at their best. But due to the manifestation of a disorder if sleep is been deprived then these vital tasks are not effectively carried on. Therefore in order to eliminate this condition the associated disorder must be eased and the therapy which would benefit the individual holistically must be provided.
