Psychosomatic Disorders
Psychosomatic disorders has its origin at a mind level before it manifests in the body. This happens when the mind is over burdened by emotions for a prolonged period of time. Any psychosomatic disorder is the resultant factor of unattended negative emotions, perceptions and flawed thinking patterns. According to Vedic science, every individual is born with a unique body frame and mental frame which is known as prakrithi or constitution. Each person based on their inherent constitution is vulnerable to few physical and mental disorders. There are 3 types of prakrithi, known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Vata people are more prone to anxiety, low back pain and irritable bowel syndrome. Pitta people are prone to blood pressure, acidity and anger, while kapha people are prone to diabetes, obesity and depression, to quote some disorders. Each of the constitution presents itself with physical and emotional vulnerabilities. If awareness can be brought upon to what one is vulnerable to and subsequently makes the necessary changes, then the possibility of getting a psychosomatic disorder can minimize drastically. Nevertheless Vedic science emphasis on karmaja diseases which means the diseases transferred to an individual due to previous births karmas. That is where the awareness about one’s soul and leading a dharmic life helps in eliminating the disease factors from one’s life.

Body is a chemical factory and neuro hormones play a major role in its activities. Activities of the body are influenced by the moods and emotions experienced by an individual. If you are happy then body relaxes and releases positive hormones and if you are sad or angry then it results in release of stress inducing hormones and chemicals in wrong ratios leading to disharmony in the body and mind. If the harmony is not quickly restored through different ways and means, it leads to the birth of a psychosomatic disorder and affects the organs which the individual constitution is prone to. Therefore decoding our mental architecture becomes very important to stay healthy.

Stress – A major source of physical and mental disorder
Stress response differs from person to person. Some human beings respond very well and deal with it heads on and some get stuck. Stress can originate either from external stimuli or internal. Deep rooted psychological factors leads to serious psychological conflicts and results in stress.

When one responds poorly to stress, it not only impacts the mind but also affects different parts of the body which an individual is constitutionally vulnerable to. This transference takes place when the stress is prolonged in nature and starts to spill out of the mind to body. The result is stress induced psychosomatic disorder.
