Relaxation is essential for effective labor. It helps to conserve energy and makes one's mind clear. Body’s chemical reaction to stress and fear make muscles and joints to stiffen. Actually in labor, muscles have to relax and give way to stronger forces that are working against them. The muscles must be loose and relaxed to open the womb and push the way out
Relaxation techniques
Active relaxation
The art of letting go and allowing your muscles to relax when you are aware about the particular body part and could consciously allow that part to relax, it gives you a greater control over them. It helps in building more confidence, lessens the need of medication and maximise your chances of allowing yourself and your baby a "speedy delivery" without much complications.
Progressive Relaxation
Progressive relaxation is useful in early labor, when you'll have a longer “rest” between contractions. This method is incorporated into many natural childbirth programs. It's a great way to get to know the muscle groups in your body and find out where you hold your stress.
