According to our ancient science obesity is described as ‘Medoroga’ because of increase in the fat tissue that is medhas dhatu.
Medo dhatu is excessively nourished and remaining other Dhatus gets malnourished. Kapha gets collected in between the dhatus causing sluggishness and heaviness. When Kapha increases excessively it causes slowness in Fat metabolism causing obesity.
